Sparks Hometowne Christmas, presented by Intuit, will host a weekend of festive and traditional activities beginning Friday, December 4th with the annual tree lighting ceremony.
The annual tree lighting ceremony, presented by Intuit, which in the past took place the same day as the parade will now be held on Friday evening from 6:30 PM – 7:00 PM in front of the Saint Mary's Amphitheater on Victorian Avenue.
Then on Saturday, December 5th, the public is invited to attend the 23rd annual Sparks Hometowne Christmas Parade, also presented by Intuit. The parade, featuring the theme, "A Celebration of Angels", will again travel from east to west on Victorian Avenue and run from 1:00 PM – 3:00 P.M.
The 2009 Grand Marshal is season two American Idol finalist, Kimberley Locke, who will perform music from her upcoming Christmas CD while riding on the Intuit float along the parade route.
Santa and Mrs. Claus will greet and visit with children in the Glendale Schoolhouse from Noon – 2 P.M. and again from 3:00 – 4:00 P.M. Also, Sparks Heritage Museum will offer Christmas storytelling from noon – 1 PM.
In an effort to help those that require assistance, a seating area for people with disabilities will be provided along the parade route on the northeast corner of 10th & Victorian.

On the first Saturday in December, The Sparks Hometowne Christmas parade and tree lighting ceremony is the perfect start to the Holiday Season. The Parade, which usually starts at noon, comes down Victorian Avenue in front of the Nugget and includes community entries and entertainment.
